How Often are Recommended Species/Class Combos Updated?

Long time player, many time poster in the distant past. I've been jamming some DCSS lately, and I realized that a lot of the recommended build combos on the character select screen haven't really changed. What initially made me realize this was Octopode EE as a rec, presumably because of the synergy with Statue Form and crushing tentacles. Only now, Statue Form isn't an earth spell, but a shapeshifted form. Octopodes don't even get a bonus to Earth magic.

Do these recommendations get updated at all?
