Will 3200 mhz ram work on 2400 mhz motherboard

Hi everyone Will 3200 mhz ram work on 2400 mhz motherboard. Well 3200 mhz is cheaper compared to 2400 so I bought that but now scared . My laptop is lenovo IdeaPad s 145 15 IWL. long story short I tried to change it by myself then my laptop did not turn on, but charger light is on. I tried my ways now given my laptop to laptop service centre, I have removed my old ram too. It already has a build in one so gave my laptop just like that. Anyone gone through the same problem, did it work. I don't think I can buy a new ram though.
