Is hardware cloth significantly impactful on absorption of acoustic broadband panels?

Sorry for the long title but it’s pretty much my whole question haha

I’m wanting to pet proof my panel fronts so my cats don’t ruin them(I trim their claws but small damage still accumulates over time)

Wondering if hardware cloth/chicken wire on the front or beneath the front fabric would be good for this and if it would harm the effectiveness of my panels
