The reason I box
The first part will be me getting this off my chest, and the second will be a small letter to my siblings.
I am a younger brother to an older, amazing brother. Even though we had our differences and problems, today we are as tight as two siblings can be to the point where I would lay down my life for his, and I know he would do the same for me.
Why do I mention this first?
Our dad made us that way. He was horrible. I won’t go into details, but the fact that he still walks this earth will always be a reminder to me that evil can exist. However, the spotlight also goes to the she devil who brought him into this world his mother.
To cut a long story short, she forced my mother to work for her. My mom did. She is a soldier, having grown up in her own kind of hell. My grandmother made her work even while she was pregnant. The thing is, that was during her third pregnancy after she had already given birth to me. Later, we found out she lost my two younger siblings twins during that pregnancy. They never got the chance to take their first breath or see the world, all because of cruelty.
I wish there were a way to type this anger out, because when I think about it, the rage feels overwhelming. But I understand that nothing will bring them back. After many years, I have come to accept that.
So why do I box?
Growing up around that kind of evil, and seeing them put their hands on my family when I wasn’t strong enough to defend them, made me want to become stronger, strong enough to protect not just myself, but my future family and loved ones.
Now, a small letter to them.
I always dreamed of having a younger sibling whether a brother or a sister.
Being woken up to the reality that I never got the chance to love you, hold you, or even feel you in a hug has shown me how cruel life can be. But I know I cannot carry that as a burden.
Instead, I will carry you in my thoughts as a reminder of how special life truly is, and how precious every moment we experience can be.
Thank you both.
I hope you have grown into the most amazing two little angels.
Your older brother,
with love 🤍
