A question about iron and the fae

Hello, guys! Firstly, I apologize for my English, it is not my native language. I would like to know your opinion/theories on a subject: The fae fear iron, even showing an aversion to the smell, but in the first book, right at the beginning (chapter 13) the Chronicler reveals that he knows the name of iron and makes a connection with Bast. I've thought about this a lot but I can't understand how the two facts connect. What do you think?
