How do I cope with feeling socially neglected?
Hey there, I need some help with how I can rationally process my feelings for this. After a lot of soul searching, I realized I'm not a huge fan of group hangouts. I'm not going to avoid my friend groups to just do 1:1s, but I try to be more selective about what group things I join. Healthy solution.
My issue is that I do often feel "snubbed" by my friend group when I try to do small things to be an active participant even though I know I'm already struggling in group settings (it just feels harder to connect and read ppl compared to hanging out one on one).
For example, a girl had a breakdown at our last group hangout about her pet having health issues and I texted her the next day offering a shoulder if she wanted someone to chat about it with -- no response. A few days later it was her bday, so I sent her a nice text -- no response again. Another girl in that group texted me privately last week about meeting up at a cafe, and after a few back and forth planning texts, she stopped responding about plans and changed the conversation despite me saying we should finalize plans. Yesterday, I sent a potential hangout activity idea in the group chat and it was met with silence.
Listen, I know we're all busy so I don't want to be mad, but my feelings are hurt because I just don't feel like I'm being matched. It honestly feels like they secretly dislike me at this point. I know that moving forward I'll just redirect my energy to other people & activities, but the lingering hurt still is there. Any advice on how I can best cope with these feelings and move forward?
