Now that the Supreme Court ruled some tariffs unlawful, how will refunds actually work for businesses?
I recently read about a Supreme Court decision saying some past tariffs were not legally authorized. I’m trying to understand the practical side of this, not the politics.
A few genuine questions:
- If tariffs are ruled unlawful, who gets refunded the importing companies only, or does it reach consumers too?
- Would refunds happen automatically, or would businesses need to file claims?
- How long does something like this usually take in the U.S. system?
- Does this kind of ruling limit how future presidents can impose tariffs?
Just curious how this works in real life from an American legal/business perspective.
