An Exciting Opportunity! Recruiting for a Founder. Join a Startup that wants to help people have great adventures.

Looking for Cofounder

THIS IS A EARLY VERSION UNDER A SELF IMPOSED DEADLINE. THERE IS LIKELY TO BE FUTURE VERSIONING.

Hello,

My name is Charles Stevens. I am the Founder and CEO of a startup called Adventure. Yes, we do what is literally said on the tin; help people have truly meaningful adventures from seasoned veterans through to first timers putting on their first backpack. This goal can and should take many shapes, though perhaps in its purest form that means time outdoors, in nature, unguided, self sufficient, under mechanical power only, and often for multiple days.

Overview of the Opportunity

We cut through the lingo and buzz words, for simply helping as many as people explore that possibility, ideally moving them as far along towards the goal of adventure in its purest form. Some people will feel more comfortable for that, others at a different baseline, and that's ok. We are here to be flexible for others goals and offer that choice.

The best way to achieve this is using the power of the internet, developing a software as a service and setting a new standard for this category.

Our starting point is as establishing a booking engine as an aggregate of third party providers. Our more general framework is working within the constraints of this theme.

The best place for launching a business of this type is in the USA. That is where I'll primarily work out of and where we’ll launch, before expanding into further markets. So, a Founder whose preference is for working out of the UK, either remotely or in a satelitte office is important.

This is not a ‘get rich quick scheme’ type of startup. Adventure is itself an authentic pursuit, requiring genuine commitment and engagement for progress. And while the right technical Founder does not require any background in an adventure, at least an engaging in it's core principles is important for the best performance. A great team is complementary and great in filling in the spaces

Success will bs best measured by how many people will take the plunge, give it a go, and are satisfied, preferably delighted, by the value we add, returning as a happy user. And all the better for newcomers and those whose minds we have changed joining this journey.

Success will come at the cost of countless hours of hardwood and dedication, sustained over a long time. I am fortunate and well positioned for this as this business is also my passion and hobby. It has been tried and tested countless times and in countless scenarios that it feels second nature and natural. It is somewhat of a self propelling dynamo in my life.

Since my early years, including during childhood with my parents, specifically my father, adventuring was on the regular. I also carry that rebellious and free spirit streak as someone who has had a decent life. I similarly know the hard work and discipline for getting stuff done.

The Right Founder

I am searching for a cofounder who before all else has the following; A technical background in computer science and/or software development. Is UK located and both prefers and is comfortable working out of the UK across different timezones. A willingness to work hard and commit.

My Professional Background

My early career background is as a finance professional. I worked in investment banking and private equity, before spending the prior two years… you guessed it… on an adventure. I have significant experience working in US and European markets.

I have also myself been an early stage investor in various capacities, understanding things incredibly well from both sides of the table.

I am someone who is capable of and has experienced developing, leading, and juggling everything from strategy, product management, recruitment, fundraising, marketing, sales, finance, business development, and corporate development, and understanding the dynamics of how the dynamics of these roles shift from their earliest days all the way through to IPOs and public companies. Through this I have an understanding of the principles of software development and computer science, so can be a resource and sounding board, though to a limited extent here. I'm also a quick study, but this is primarilyvwhere you come in!

I graduate from University of St Andrews, Class of 2020. My degree is in History, specialising in Economic History. An interest academically, less relevant vocationally.

I’m currently based in London, though the plan is for me to soon relocate to US with a partner once a working relationship is established with a Founder, visiting as and when during the building of this business.

Feel free for dropping something in a comment. Thanks in advance for reaching out.

Regards, Charles
