Top IIM ,Top non-IIM or nothing... See Description

NSFWGeneral Discussion :illuminati:

New IIMs and Baby IIMs have better campuses than the others.
Slightly has a better median package than the others. Opportunities like different sectors hiring for better roles are more, tho the packages are only slightly better than others for the average bunch. And you will have an IIM tag, which may help you in companies where your seniors dominate. They may prefer you over other college students during a promotion.
That's what I've found out through my LinkedIn searches.

Aim for the top IIMs or top non-IIMs for the dream packages and roles. If not, join campuses like GLIM, TAPMI, GIM, IRMA(RM) and colleges similar to those and accept the fact that any campus costs you 20 lakh,s unlike the IIT's and a couple others. The average packages are more like 10-14LPA and there may not be sectors during the campus placements preferred to your liking.
Anything below these has worse average packages, worse roles, or sectors you may not like to work in.

I had the idea that even if I get a 70th or 80th percentile, I can do an MBA from any college, which will cost around 10 lakhs and easily end up with a 10 LPA in any sector that I like.
Boy, was I wrong. Even the low 10-14 LPA reality is for colleges like GLIM, GIM, etc., and other campuses below those get like 7-10LPA for more or less the same fees.

I never knew about the colleges until now.
This year, I started trying to get into any college with a low percentile and was under the impression that I would get those brochure-mentioned average packages in any sector I wish and in any college that provides specifically an MBA.
Trying to get into a better college with a low percentile and get a decent package in the sector that I wish has enlightened me about the reality of campuses.

What's your take on this? Am I right? Am I wrong?
