How do I avoid a negative dm trope
Im planning a campaign with my friends (who are also new so we're all learning together) and I've heard all the horror stories about dmpc's about them being too strong and plot heavy
My plan for the campaign was to make the big bad evil guy the parties guild and helpful source of information, and I was wondering if I might piss off my players for having the big bad evil guy somehow showing up in towns there in with helpful information
Is there anyway I can still keep it interesting and avoid the 'overpowered dmpc' trope?
sorry im new to d&d and this sub reddit and I have worries about dming for the first time
