How do you build “mission control” for an agent? Need prompts + deployment + monitoring tips
I’m trying to set up a “mission control” page/dashboard for my agent, but I’m not sure what the best practice is yet.
- Prompt help: building a mission control page
Is there a good detailed prompt template I can give my agent to build a mission control dashboard?
I want it to show stuff like:
• current running tasks + status (running / succeeded / failed)
• last heartbeat / last update time
• logs per task (streaming if possible)
• queue / scheduled jobs (cron)
• error reports + retry button
• basic usage metrics (requests, tokens/credits, etc.)
If you have a prompt you’ve used successfully, I’d love an example.
- Deployment: domain + localhost vs VPS
Should I:
• buy a domain for this?
• host it on a VPS (DigitalOcean etc.)?
• run it locally on localhost?
What’s the “normal” setup if I want it reliable and accessible?
- Visibility + “is it alive?” problem
My biggest issue right now is visibility. I’ll send the agent to do something and it says “I’ll update you in a bit,” and then I’m sitting there for 1–2 hours wondering:
• is it actually working or stuck?
• did the gateway/session close?
• is it waiting for my response?
• can I see what it’s doing live (logs/steps/terminal)?
• how long does it stay “online” before timing out?
• how do I track what it’s costing me on OpenRouter while it runs?
Right now it feels like I’m launching missions into the void and hoping something comes back.
Any practical workflow recommendations (dashboard stack, logging, monitoring, cost tracking) would be super appreciated.
