Do GCSEs matter for Cambridge as a mature applicant?

I'm planning to apply to Cambridge for history, I wanted to know whether my GCSEs matter. I've been out of education for years, I'm currently doing A levels, I'm hoping to achieve A*s and would apply next year after my results but I'm worried about my GCSEs from 2021, whilst they aren't terrible, they aren't steller either but I had strong extenuating circumstances for those grades. I have good super curriculars for history as well
