[pjo] [hoo] My thoughts on Thalia becoming Artemis' lieutenant (Spoilers for The Titan's Curse and Blood of Olympus)
I like Thalia, and I do believe she does a great job leading the Hunters of Artemis and being Artemis' lieutenant, but I've always thought that it didn't quite make sense.
Artemis has many hunters, such as Phoebe or Naomi, who have been part of her hunt for thousands of years. Wouldn't it make more sense to choose them to be her lieutenant?
(I know both are killed by Orion later on but at the time of Zoë's death they were alive, BoO takes place sometime later, and Artemis wouldn't know they would die in the future)
Being a lieutenant doesn't just mean good leadership, it means leading the huntresses the same way Artemis would lead them. Technically anyone could be in charge of a group and give them orders, but a lieutant would still be required to lead the way the actual leader wants their followers to be led.
Someone who has been part of the hunt for thousands of years would understand how Artemis wants her hunt to be lead and how she thinks more than Thalia would.
Phoebe is even stated to be the most skilled tracker and healer of Artemis' hunters and is said to be even older than Zoë.
