Avocado mattress alternatives

It’s always important to evaluate mattresses against your needs before committing to a purchase. If you’ve had an Avocado mattress before, you might wonder if there’s anything better or different out there.

I’ll be looking at the Avocado Green and the recently released Avocado Luxury Organic Mattress.

One of the main things that stand out for Avocado mattresses is that they’ve got organic options, a wide range of foundations, frames to pair up, and are favorites on sites like Good Housekeeping.

Avocado mattresses are known to be pricey, but I like them a lot, even if there are alternatives out there. I’ll give a quick rundown of a few and some comparisons.

Helix Birch Natural Mattress

Not only GREENGUARD Gold and GOLS certified, but it is also guaranteed with zero fiberglass.

It is very breathable and cool running, which is good news for hot sleepers, as explained by its natural wool top and bottom structure.

When it comes to the actual feel, the Helix Birch runs a tad firmer than a true medium, but that doesn’t stop it from being a great choice or even an alternative to the Avocado Green.

I was really impressed with this latex hybrid, which comes at a lesser price compared to other latex hybrids in the market across other brands, from what can be found.

It’s a great choice for pain relief and keeping pressure points at bay, according to many defenders of the Helix Birch Natural Mattress. That can be attributed to its structure, two layers of latex form which contour the body rather well.

Saatva Classic

Saatva is a good luxury choice when it comes to choosing a mattress. A favorite of many, it still brings relevant points to consider before opting for them. This is the main “competitor" I would recommend considering when thinking of an Avocado Green alternative: the Saatva Classic.

Their twin Saatva Classic starts at $1399 and can be found for lower prices on different sales throughout the year or payment plans on their website or other retailers.

The Saatva Classic, like the Avocado Green, is a hybrid mattress. The Saatva Classic uses memory foam, compared to Avocado’s latex foam, which is an upgrade for many.

Works great for people prone to back pain to ensure healthy spinal alignment, as it was developed with chiropractor-approved technology. Now, though my experience with it was fine, some people complain that the Saatva Classic struggles with durability past the five-year mark.

Birch Luxe Natural Mattress

The Birch line of mattresses keeps its promises by being made from only natural and organic materials from Europe.

Just like the Avocado Luxury Organic Mattress, the Birch Luxe Natural Mattress is made for all possible sleeping positions and keeps your back and body in check.

When it comes to firmness, it also scores a good medium and is versatile, making both mattresses comparable and open for consideration. The top layer is a little firmer than some people like, but that’s extremely personal.

Regarding motion, whether it’s from a partner or a pet, it has way less motion transfer, so it will keep you more comfortable with restless sleep partners.
