Is WGU okay for a MAcc? Struggling with the “no graduation” part
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to decide where to do my MAcc and would love some honest advice.
I’m strongly considering Western Governors University (WGU) because it’s by far the most affordable option for me. I did a lot of networking during undergrad, so I’m not as concerned about that aspect of a traditional program.
My dilemma is more emotional than practical
I love the idea of a traditional graduation ceremony. I genuinely enjoy celebrating milestones, and part of me feels sad about missing out on a “normal” master’s experience. The other program I’ve been accepted to is more traditional, but it would cost about $20k more and has very limited online flexibility. I’ll have to work while in school no matter what, so flexibility is important.
Realistically:
• I’ll be working while in school either way.
• Flexibility matters a lot to me.
• I don’t know if I can justify paying an extra $20k mainly for the experience + graduation ceremony.
Has anyone here done their MAcc at WGU? Did it hurt you at all long term?
Also slightly chaotic question: is it even possible to take most courses online somewhere like WGU and then transfer into a traditional MAcc for the last course just to graduate with a ceremony? Or do most programs not allow that? (I know this sounds dramatic.)
