Query regarding usage of OPNSense

Hi,

I spent a bit of time looking around and only managed to see posts regarding servers built with Linux using this as a reputable firewall. I am however new to Linux as a home PC build, and wondered if OPNSense would be good for personal firewall? I've been looking around for something along the same lines as Avast but have been struggling to find something. I currently only have ClamAV installed and it's a bit too bare bones for my liking and I'm left feeling a little unprotected.

Any info/tips/directions would be really welcome, I'm navigating Linux cautiously as I've been a Windows user for the last 23 or so years. :)
