Where to stay when visiting friend?

I’m thinking about visiting a friend of mine in Dallas sometime this year but I’m not sure if I should stay in a hotel or see if I can stay at my friend’s place. I wouldn’t mind either option, but each has their pros and cons. I briefly mentioned this to my friend a couple months ago but we didn’t get very far with it because she was gonna be busy when I was thinking about seeing her.

For staying at my friend’s place it would be more convenient for us since we wouldn’t have to meet up anywhere and can just go to wherever we want to go from there and then come back when we’re done. It would also be cheaper than a hotel too. However she lives in a small studio apartment so I don’t know where I’d be sleeping since she lives alone and only has one bed. I don’t know if I’d sleep on her couch or on an air mattress on the floor or somewhere else. When we talked about it she said I could stay with her if her place was bigger and she’s since moved into the studio apartment I mentioned earlier which is a little bigger than her last place.

As for a hotel I would have my own bed and bathroom and whatnot and wouldn’t have to worry about getting in my friend’s way or invade her privacy. I’d want to find one close to where she lives so it’s easy for us to meet up before doing whatever we want to do. Cost is a big factor here. When we talked before she told me she didn’t want me to spend too much on a room (which I also don’t want to do but she was way more adamant about it than me so I appreciate her looking out for me in that regard) so I’d want to find something cheap but not crappy and in her area.

I’m ok with both options, but like I said I don’t know which one to go with. I’m not really leaning towards one option specifically. The trip is still very much up in the air so I haven’t looked into hotels in her area. When I talk to her about it again see if she’d be open to it I’ll start planning this out more with her direct input in mind, but I’m curious to know what you think. I’ve never planned a trip by myself before so to be completely honest I don’t really know what I’m doing!
