In the solitude of a gloomy bungalow in Lancashire 🏚️, elderly Sarah Ann Ricketts indulged in her most peculiar habit each night: sweet jam by the spoonful, accompanied by a glass of rum or stout 🥃🍺.

What she didn't know was that her trust in Louisa Merrifield, her caregiver, would soon be her death warrant… 📜☠️
On the night of April 14, 1953, Sarah took her last spoonful. The jar contained not just fruit 🍓: it contained poison. Rodine, a white phosphorus-based rodenticide, carefully mixed by Louisa with deadly intent 🐀🧪.

Two days earlier, Louisa had already foreshadowed it:
🗨️ "She's not dead yet, but she will be soon."
And so it was. She didn't call a doctor, nor did she warn the family 🤫. She only asked that a Salvation Army band play "Abide with Me" in front of the bungalow, as if it were the script for a pre-funeral… no mourning, no witnesses, no respect 🎷🎶.

She forbade Sarah's daughters from finding out. She wanted everything to burn quickly with the body 🔥⚱️. But she hadn't counted on a key witness: a friend who remembered those chilling words… and went straight to the police 👮‍♂️⚖️.

The autopsy revealed what the jar concealed: sweet death. 🥄💔

Today, Sarah Ricketts's gaze remains frozen in time, as if asking:
🩸 “Who will dare to taste the next spoonful?”
