Help with a book character
Hello, I am currently writing a book and want to make sure that the actions of my main antagonist would make sense and that his psychological state is something that happens and if it has a proper name what it would be.
The main idea is that this antagonist is very against magic. Fully agrees with the prohibition of it, thinks it is bad and dangerous. However, I wanted him to still secretly use magic. Mostly in destructive and dangerous ways. Does this make sense? Would a person that vehemently hates something still do it themselves? If so, is there a name for that? Is it extreme narcissism? or something more complex?
A little background information:
- there was an unequal power dynamic between those with magic abilities and those without. Those without were heavily dependent of those with. However, with in the past decade-ish though resistance and technological advancement they overcame and now those without magic are in power.
-The main antagonist is a prince in this kingdom.
-The queen (antagonist mother) was killed in an accident caused by magic Six years prior.
-Magic had been prohibited for roughly six months at the time the story takes place. Over the past five years there were several restrictions past until it was just fully prohibited.
Thank you.
