i have the picture of one of the members of the imessage group chat

Any idea why do i have the avatar picture of one of the members on my imessage groupchat profile? Like when I chat with the other member, they say that I'm using the avatar photo of one of the members of the group chat. We are a family of 3, so mom, dad, and me and they both confirm that I'm using mom's avatar pic.
