Relocating/finding a place without a job offer. Is it possible?

I've been looking to relocate to NYC from out of state for the last couple months but I'm getting stuck in a loop where jobs im interviewing for would prefer someone already in the city or need someone there ASAP but apartments require proof of income. I have enough in savings to cover a $2-$2.5K place for 6-12+ months and a great credit score - is there any chance of finding a place to work with me or am I out of luck? I know the expense of living in the city but don't have concerns about finding a position in that time frame based on experience.

Note: the companies im interviewing with are corporate professional roles but would it better to just find a temporary something in the meantime to show income?
