Punishing server for restaurant CC fee

Rant

In a sub about credit cards, someone said that they are increasingly seeing places charge an extra CC fee, which will be like 3-5%.

One commenter said, "For restaurants that do add credit card surcharges, I will make sure I subtract that from tips (and write down the math on the bill so waiters know) and usually do not go there again."

This made me quite annoyed, and I went off a little bit. Although, in practice, if someone left me a snarky note that they tipped me less because of a CC policy, I would probably just roll my eyes and hope that they never came back in.

Again, in reality, depending on the bill, it might only be like 5 dollars less that they are tipping me, but let's be honest, this turkey was probably only tipping 15% to begin with.

Also, like, why not talk to the manager or owner to tell them you are pissed about the surcharge and are not coming back? Or demand a 3% discount because you hadn't agreed to the surcharge and were not notified beforehand? ALSO, they said "usually" do not go there again. So like, you're gonna keep coming to that place and keep shorting servers to give yourself a little justice-boner? C'mon, hon.
