Night in the woods turned 9 years old today and coincidentally i finished it just now! Didnt even know that this game was already this old!

this game really resonated with me ngl. for as long as i can remember ive been mourning the past and dreading the future, always afraid of change. how am i supposed to enjoy the happy moments if theyll never last anyway? does it even matter if everything will be forgotten eventually?

i gradutated high school last year and seeing everyone change so easily (atleast outwardly) made me feel weird and anxious. everyone seems so good at this whole adult thing while i struggle to even imagine a fulfilling life for myself. everything changes so quickly and im afraid of falling behind, and being alone in the past that i cling to so hard. not being able to enjoy good moments and anxiously waiting for bad stuff to happen really made me feel empty and numb over time tbh.

Night in the woods was an amazing story and i feel like i played it at just the right time, because only during these past months (ive been going to therapy a lot + meds) i sort of have come to terms with the fact that nothing and nobody is staying the same? i think? i feel like its easier now to let go of the past and the people in it. i have found its much better to feel sad about some stuff rather than feel empty about EVERYTHING. feeling sad that things change, only means that it meant something in the first place and that i was in it. that i lived it. and this game conveyed this message amazingly imo. (quote from mae:
But when I die I want it to hurt. When my friends leave, when I have to let go, when this entire town is wiped off the map, I want it to hurt. Bad. Until that happens, I want to hope again. And I want it to hurt. Because that means it meant something.)

Btw im still scared as fuck of the future but im also excited for how lifes gonna play out and how im gonna be able to feel it all.

anyways sorry for the ramble and the grammar issues, english isnt my native language). Thanks for reading so far, i hope yall have an amazing day!!!
