What will happen if Khamenei is assassinated?

Axios reports that President Trump of the US is considering assassinating the "supreme leader" Ali Khamenei of Iran.

If that should occur, since Khamenei is not only a political figure, but the Ayatollah as well, would there be outrage across the Shia Muslim world and could there even possibly be a call for jihad, at least among Shiites?

Are we overlooking the religious significance of such an action?

Could the Crusader wannabe types like Hegseth get their clash of civilizations conflict?
