Being offered a manager role - should I take it ?

Been working in this company as a senior software engineer for 3 years. A manager of a sister team left so my skip asked me to become their manager. Not sure what questions to ask even before I accept the offer. Not clear to me why the previous one left - she seemed to be an amazing person from my brief interactions. A little bit of doubt creeping if they are giving me this because I seem to be the only one eligible or the only one willing to say yes or actually the best one among other options. Only the last one is a good enough reason for me. What do I do ?
