Do you think Chris Murphy’s further shift left is rooted in a genuine change in his beliefs and policy ideas or a self serving political move?

It appears to me that over the past couple of years that Chris Murphy has shifted further left. While he once endorsed Hillary over Bernie in 2016, he now states that Democrats need to abandon its reliance on neoliberal status quo policies.
