Managing Hypertension with Vasodilation

I've always had high blood pressure and now want to do something about it. My last test average was 146/95. I'm wondering if vasodilators are an effective treatment since I've already planned on taking CIalis and oral Minoxidil, along with maybe some other stuff.

I've done some research and it pretty much all ignores vasodilators and focuses on ACE inhibitors and ARBs. Is there a reason for that? If you could get optimal blood pressure through vasodilation, would that not produce an optimal health outcome? Or is blood pressure just a proxy for some other issue and so just lowering the number doesn't actually mean much.

Also, what's the deal with oral min? It was developed for high blood pressure, but apparently it has negative effects of heart health? I need some clarity with all this.
