Taper/Dosing Timing

Hello,

Tapering .5mg from 8mg Valium due to very sensitive nervous system/MCAS, severe life issues. Going gently.

I currently split my dose as 2mg morning, 2mg 5pm, 4mg right before bed to try to keep consistent blood levels.

I asked my doctor to give me 5mg pills for the taper so that I can have three halves of 5mg throughout the day (2.5mg earlier in day, maybe slightly later than morning, and 2.5mg x2 later in the day a little closer together so they’re relatively similar in timing and strengths to previous dosing).

I know Valium is long acting but I definitely notice “the drop off” effect throughout the day, usually first thing in the morning.

Anyway, whatever. Question is, is it better for me to keep doses at same times and roughly same mgs minus what I’m tapering?

So for example, should I have stayed on the 2ms and then just removed a quarter of my afternoon dose to taper .5mg?

Essentially my aim is I do not want to be cutting pills up yet. I want a simple pill handling process as much as possible, and splitting a pre scored pill is far easier than being exacting with quartering.

I assume it doesn’t matter, but I suppose the aim is consistency as much as possible for sensitive nervous systems right?
