My 2nd lobes were pierced with butterfly backs?

Hi everyone!

I got my second lobes pierced probably about a month and a half ago and when I did I got pierced with butterfly backs. (I want to preface and say i’ve had 2nd lobes before that I did myself with flat backs that healed perfectly I just got them redone because they were uneven). Initially when I was pierced with the butterfly backs I was really worried because i’ve heard terrible stories and well flash forward to now my ears are both incredibly irritated even though I don’t touch them, sleep with a piercing pillow, and only clean them once a day. I just changed them to titanium flat backs because I figured that was the problem but when i did there was sooo much gunk under the butterfly back. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience and maybe what can I do to help with the irritation?
