Transmission backorder

Anyone on here having to deal with or dealt with GM on getting a new transmission? If so, how long were you out of your truck?

A few months ago, while driving on the freeway I felt my 2019 Colorado vibrate every so often. Never felt it on side roads, but once I got above 45 MPH it would start to shake like you're driving in ruts from semi trucks. I looked on here and a lot people said it was a torque converter shutter and the fluid needed to be flush. I took it to the dealer I bought it from to have them look at it. The dropped a pin in and saw that there was metal shavings in the transmission fluid. I needed a whole new transmission. The truck only has like 61000 miles. I had it service regularly to make sure I stayed current with my warranty, but just my luck my GM certified preowned expired like 2 months before this happened, even though I was still below the miles. Luckily I bought the extended warranty so it was covered with a $50 deductible. Shitty thing was extended only paid for 5 days worth rental and then I would be responsible for the rest. This happened right before Thanksgiving and as of today, February 2026 my truck is still in the shop with the transmission being on back order. I have a customer rep from GM calling me every few days just to tell me it's still on backorder. They said they could try and get approval for me to get reimbursed for car rental, but they can't guarantee it. I asked if they could get preapproval for it and they said they can't do that. Anyone do this with them and get reimbursement? I'm not really to risk getting stuck with a few months car rental bill.

GM can't give me an ETA on when the transmission will arrive, they just say that it's a supply chain issue. I asked my service rep at the dealership at the end of January what is the longest they've seen to take to get a transmission and they said last year it took 6 months for one. If that is the case for me, I'm looking at not getting my truck back until the end of May.
