Tips for a noob?

Im new to Elden ring but I have tried to play it several times before as well as other fromsoft games (bloodborne and dark souls) but for some reason I always get absolutely 💩 on. But I really want to at least try to beat Elden ring due to people saying it’s one of the best gaming experiences ever. I just need some tips and tricks and help understanding how runes, upgrading, and other things work.
