After the $1.5 million listing of Pierpont General Store in December 2025, it is officially under new ownership, marking a new chapter for the hybrid gas station and cafe.

A couple of Missourians, and current local families, have partnered together to purchase and obtain ownership of Pierpont — Jen and Lee Miller, and Curt and Heather Carleton.

Although it's named Pierpont General Store, it is much more than just that. Pierpont is a Columbia staple that not only meets one's basic shopping needs, but also has a full kitchen and bar, filling station and patio setting for families and friends to enjoy. Customers are able to enjoy food or drinks, listen to live music, host and attend various events or just spend a nice afternoon outside.

According to Facebook, the Miller’s currently own a gas station in their hometown of Morrison, which they purchased when doubts of closure arrived. The gas station, now known as Miller's Fuel and Auto, had been in the community for years, and the thought of losing it prompted the Millers to keep it afloat.

“Two years ago, we bought the little gas station in our hometown because we couldn’t stand the thought of our community losing it,“ Jen Miller said.

In the post, the purchase of Pierpont has them feeling the same way again.

“Today feels like another full-circle moment,” Jen said.

The Carletons are business owners and are active in the Columbia community. With eight children and eight grandchildren, they want to ensure Pierpont maintains it's tight-knit community.

“We understand the history of Pierpont and what this place has meant to generations of families,” the Carleton’s said via a Facebook post. “Preserving that foundation while thoughtfully building its future is something we hold deeply important.”

Pierpont has been in operation since the 1960s, and has built an everlasting reputation for its service and friendliness. Although there are new owners, those values will not be changing, they added.

“Honor the legacy. Serve the community well. Create a place where people gather, stay awhile and feel at home,” the Millers and Carletons said.

The new owners announced in the post that improvements are coming to Pierpont, and the general store will continue to bring together families and friends for years to come.

“We can’t wait to show you what’s coming,” Jen said.
