Struggling with Pre-op diet
Hello.
First, I’m sorry, I know there’s a couple other posts like this one already but I didn’t want to hijacked other people’s stories with mine 😭
I need advise.
My surgery is on March 3rd and I thought I was doing well but I started bawling my eyes out after seeing my parents dinner. I’m not ashamed as I expected this to both physically and emotionally hard but I need to find ways to ease this for me as much as I can.
I am AuDHD and I don’t want to be in constant crisis or stress
Something I find interesting is that it seems different programs have different plans.
My pre-op diet consists of 1 week of 2 tiny meals and 1 protein shake
2nd week 2 shakes and 1 tiny meal..
In neither of those weeks I can’t go pass 800 calories and I learned really fast that’s easy to get to that amount earlier in the day.
I started to do the shake in the morning, that way I can sip as long as I can even if that meant breakfast ends at 2 pm but I still struggle with the solid meals.
They’re so tiny they don’t really ease my hunger and my mind is still begging for “fun” food.
So I’m constantly battling myself, I’m ALWAYS hungry and I’m dizzy.
I go to work and can’t focus because I’m also very sleepy.
However, I think seeing other people’s meals is what is making this even harder.
At work I just tried to joke it around when my coworkers were eating cakes or cookies and I just had plain water.
Or during our lunch time when they joked about me only having a small veggie soup while they had burgers…
Then at home, my family tries to eat separately from me but our house is tiny so I can smell and hear what they do in the kitchen and even seeing them eating a plain sandwich it just makes me feel so bad.
Now, I don’t blame them for eating normally, I don’t want my family or coworkers to change their diets but I thought I would be able to hold on and I know realized it’s hurting me but I can’t stop.
And this will be worse when my brother makes his wedding (at a restaurant) next week.
It’s there any advice?
Also is this going to get better? Or is this just the beginning? 🥲
