This is for both the sides…
…for both the parents and their to be groom/bride children.
I know most of the parents are not here on reddit so please feel free to share it with them.
I have been involved in this AM process and I also have prior dating experience. I can be considered as someone who is expressive (extrovert).
First the key thing. KEEP THE PROCESS SIMPLE, FOR YOURSELF, FOR YOUR KIDS AND FOR THE OTHER SIDE TOO. IT’S NOT A ROCKET SCIENCE.
- Don’t play mind games. You are here to look for a family for yourself and your kid. The more complex you make it for yourself, more difficult and confusing the choice will be. When I say mind games I meant things like “Intentionally replying late”, “we get so many proposals (rishtas) from time to time”.
- Swipe right only if you are interested and have the appetite (meaning if you can’t talk 10 families or your kid can’t talk to 10 prospects)
- Be communicative, believe me it’s easy to say no politely to a stranger than someone with whom you are at advanced stage. I have met many women who can’t communicate during talking stages and that’s a red flag for me. They can’t even say what they don’t like or that they are busy.
- Understand that everyone has had their own struggles to reach the point where they are now.
- Everyone has their own insecurities so be respectful.
- Don’t let ego ruin things for you and your kids.
- The process is exhausting and overwhelming for everyone. Keep taking breaks in between.
- Parents and kids should both be involved in the process equally. At least communicate with each other.
- Once the screening phase is over then it should be only about nature and how that individual is as a person. So be certain about what you want during the screening phase itself. Screening phase is when you guys get matched and the numbers are exchanged for the kids.
