Mine clearance questions / Height questions

Hey there, planning on joining as an armored engineer (hopefully), and I'm 6'4. My two questions to you lads is

How do you clear mines / IEDs. There isn't much stuff about this online, and I really wouldn't want to have my hands on a mine, and turn into a pink mist. From what I've heard, mine clearance is done with a block of C4, or a flail vehicle, but obviously what happens on paper or a handbook is different from how it actually happens in the field. Honestly, if I'm clearing a mine I'd rather have a few inches of steel between me and the mine, but circumstances happen and I could be boots on the ground. Do people defuse mines by hand and how do you not die while doing it?

Second question: From what I've seen, being 6'4 is rather a big problem, but is there a particular height ceiling for it? I know that my head is gonna be bouncing against the hatch, but as stated earlier, I'd like a few inches between me and a mine.
