2018 Model 3 - Battery Health - 73% - Chance me for getting the battery replaced this summer
I have a 2018 Tesla Model 3, Long Range with 100K miles. Ran the battery health check last night.
When I bought the car the total charge at 100% would be 310.
Most recently, at 100% charge it was at 242. I rarely charge to 100% and always charge up to 80% which would be consistently at 201.
Live in Phoenix, AZ. The summer is brutal and during every summer my range would go down. Last summer, the 80% charge would go up to 190 miles. Last year, during summer I reached out to Tesla support expressing concerns about battery health and they said as long as there are no alerts your battery health should be fine. I requested if I could bring the car for them to do battery health check and they did not support it.
As you can see, I ran my battery health check last night and I am at 73%. Very close to 70%.
Anyhow, my warranty expires on June 30th of the year (the 8 year battery warranty) and I am certain in the month of May when the temperature in Phoenix rises to 100+ degrees I will see a degrade in battery health. I am planning on running another battery health test in early June and wondering if my battery health would drop below 70% to get it replaced for free under warranty.
Obviously, if my battery health doesnt drop below 70% before June I cant get it replaced under warranty. I am wondering about the chances.
Anyone in this situation before? Anything to consider as I enter the last few months of my warranty period for my battery?
