Should I take a gap year in the middle of high school?

My mental health has been bad my gpa is low. I have junior and senior year left, my parent offered me to take a gap year between 10th and 11th grade to get my shit together then maybe during that time I could write a book, get a job and start a charity or something. Then go do A levels in a British school or something. Is this a bad idea?
