Natalie isn't as smart as people say she is ...
Headline says it all ^ I'm not a Survivor fan, but heard a lot of hype about Natalie coming into this season and was excited to watch her play. Instead I've just been confused why people say she's so smart, because her instincts haven't been strong all season.
She consistently acts out of self-interest rather than trying to build genuine alliances with other players and always acts like she's on the verge of getting murdered when the truth is, she just hasn't been a threat to the traitors all game. I started to sour on her when she went into a paranoid spiral at the banquet and bullied everyone else into letting her have the antidote, rather than logically thinking about who would be the likeliest target for murder that night. Despite many people presenting valid points, she chose to ignore all of them and made a poor play that came at the expense of the Faithfuls.
Her conclusion this week that the ONLY reason she's still on the show is because she has some "guardian angel" up in the turret just ... screams self-centered to me. Why are any of them still there? Why is Maura, or Tara still there? Frankly, it's because none of them have been major threats to the Traitors, so they haven't been on top of the kill-list at any point. It just feels like she constantly assumes everyone is out to get her in a way that causes her to act against the interests of herself and the other Faithfuls.
As demonstrated last night in the over-the-top way she went after Rob (which backfired on her in spectacular fashion), she prioritizes making a play rather than taking the time to think about if it's actually the right one or how to best go about it. I do really want to like her (and honestly am INSANELY impressed by how ripped she is), so could be convinced if I'm missing something and judging her gameplay unfairly.
