Rusty is the ultimate "utility trapper" in Phobies, a unit that exists purely to ruin an opponent's positioning and turn a high-value enemy into a sitting duck. People either love or hate Rusty ✨

Rusty represents Tetanophobia (fear of tetanus) and Metallophobia (fear of metal, specifically rusty or jagged metal).
He is a small, mechanical trap-like creature on wheels. His name is a literal description of his state, but it also references the "rusting" of a machine, where parts become seized and unable to move, just like what he does in game ❤️ Pretty cool!

Rusty is a Rare 1-Key unit that sacrifices himself for tactical control.
Key Cost: 1
Race: Mechanical (Immune to Poison, but vulnerable to electrical damage)
Health: 500 HP (Quite sturdy for a 1-key utility unit, allowing him to survive a stray hit while approaching).
Movement: 2 Tiles (Walking).
Attack Damage: 0 (He cannot deal direct damage).
Special Ability : Rusty destroys himself to apply a Root effect to an adjacent enemy, preventing them from moving for 2 turns.👀

I wanna talk about the "Lava Trap" as I like to call it: Rusty’s most deadly combo is pinning an enemy on a hazard tile. If you can push an enemy into Lava or an Abyss (using Finnigan or an other push-back phobie) and then use Rusty to root them there, they will take massive environmental damage for two turns without being able to escape... Though, it's not really a game changing strategy, I just wanted to point that out ❤️‍🩹

Use him to stop high-threat fliers or fast movers like Murder Wing or Tooth Fairy. By rooting them in place, you make them easy targets for your ranged units like Jar Cannon. Since they're not tanky, you can snipe them with In-Oculus .

If a heavy hitter like Hi-Five is reaching your Heart, Rusty can stop them just outside of striking distance, buying you two critical turns to find a solution. Or just kill it with a turret like Giggles, since they can't move, melee phobies are nearly useless. 👅

Since Rusty does 0 damage and dies to use his ability, using him poorly means you've effectively deleted one of your own units for no gain. For example, wasting Rusty (for some reason) on an In-Oculus, Attractor or something like that, knowing you will not be able to reach them anyways, so the effect is almost unnoticable. 👁️
Also
Because he has to be adjacent (Melee range) to root someone, any ranged unit can pick him off before he ever gets close. 😔

Like BOOM or Blue, once he charges, he is gone. You are trading 1 Key and 1 unit slot to temporarily disable one enemy.
Rusty is a rather skilled phobie ,he’s rarely useful in a straight brawl, but in the hands of a player who understands map hazards and positioning, he suddely looks OP🔥

What do YOU think about Rusty?¿ 🫵🛠️

I don't have it, but I think it's a GREAT phobie 🚧

A post about every single phobie! Part 11- Rusty! ✨🚧
