Air purifiers safe?

Hello everyone, I have a bit of a problem and I was hoping yall would have some insight. I was not allergic to my guinea pigs or their hay, but after being sick twice back-to-back in December, I believe I developed an allergy or sensitivity. Everytime I clean their cage in the morning and occasionally after feeding them, I get a bad cough and wheeze for an hour after. I looked up what may help and one suggestion was an air purifier, but I was wondering if that’s safe for them? It would not be next to them, maybe like 10 feet away, but is it bad for their respiratory systems? If so does anyone else have a fix that works? I’m not sure if it’ll go away and it’s making me dread taking care of them
