Need Structural Advice: Removing Porch Pillars & Extending Concrete Roof
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to modify my existing concrete car porch and would really appreciate structural input before consulting an engineer.
Current Situation: • Roof is solid reinforced concrete (RCC) and quite thick. • Two concrete pillars currently support the front edge. • There are beams running from the wall to the pillars. • There is no room above — only the porch roof slab. • I want to extend the porch all the way to the boundary wall (green patterned wall). • Final clear span would be approximately 4 meters (13 feet). • Budget range: Mid-range (not luxury, but not cheapest solution either). • Goal: Remove both pillars to create full open parking space for two cars.
What I’m Trying to Achieve: • Full open span if structurally safe. • No center pillar. • Clean finish.
