Team Player Behavior

One of my fellow peers L6 has brought to my attention that my L7 counterpart has been talking behind my back to hourly folks and shining me in a negative light. To the point of fabricating stories to make me look bad in front of hourly folks. I brushed it off until an hourly skilled trades pulled me aside to let me know that said person was spreading gossip and rumors on the floor.

Does anyone have any recommendations of how to move forward? I’m trying to work to have my counterpart stop creating a hostile work environment by spreading false accusations.
