(Update) AITAH for taking my older sisters joke too seriously?
Sorry for the late update, school has been really busy. (I've never done an update post before and I'm not sure if this is the way to do it but here ya go):
First I would like to say that I appreciate everyones support and advice on my original post. Things have been getting better and I have taken some of your advice and was not only able to talk to my school's counselor about this, but my mom too! My counselor told me that though some of the jokes my sister makes can be hilarious, it gets to a point and that my sisters reaction to me not getting her joke was unreasonable. They recommended me to start journaling or writing letters to try and smooth things out. They also emphasized how crying isn't a form of manipulation but expressed how you feel and I shouldn't let my sister manipulate me into thinking it wasnt.
My mom was not happy when I told her. She said that I shouldn't be afraid to say I don't like or if something is a joke. She agreed how the constant joking can be very annoying and that I shouldnt be scared to voice my opinions. My mom is also teased constantly but it's by my dad and his jokes make her laugh. My mom said she would talk to my sister about it and I think she did.
Over the last few days my sister has started lightly joking with me. She has not apologized nor have we talked about it but it has been awkwardly peaceful. I think we are cool now but it feels weird for me. Im not scared of her much anymore and feel a bit happier.
Im not sure what to make of this but I'll take what I can get. Thank you all for the advice!
