My guy friend didn't want to talk to me about dating so I looked on his Instagram and saw he had made it private.

I’m confused and feel weird about this situation. I (26F) have a guy friend (21M) I’ve been close with for about a month. Recently, I asked him if he was seeing anyone because he’s been less available and more distracted, and he got really serious with me and said he didn’t want to talk about dating anymore.

That alone would have been fine, but a few days later I noticed his Instagram suddenly went private. It used to be public and he never cared before. Now every time I see him he smells like perfume, not just once but consistently. He’s also smiling at his phone a lot and stepping away to text.

I’m not trying to interrogate him but the secrecy feels intentional, especially because he shut the topic down so hard with me specifically. Part of me wonders if he thinks I’d react badly or if he’s hiding the person from me for a reason. I don’t want to come off jealous or invasive, so what can I do?
