91% of Traders Make These Brutal Mistakes (I Made Them Too)

Lesson Learned

I used to think I needed a better strategy.

New indicators.
New timeframes.
New confirmations.

But when I reviewed my trades honestly, the problem was obvious.

It was me.

1. The "Perfect Entry" Trap

Setup is clean.
Breakout confirmed.
Volume good.

But I place a limit order slightly lower thinking:

"Let me get a better price."

Price never comes back.

Trade runs exactly as expected without me.

I'd sit there frustrated, telling myself I was being disciplined.

Truth?
It was greed. I wanted the best price, not a valid entry.

Now I follow a simple rule:
If the setup fits my plan, I execute. No price negotiation.

It took time to trust that.

2. Fear in Profit, Hope in Loss

This one was painful.

+3% --> I tighten stop aggressively.
-3% --> I widen stop and say "it'll bounce."

Why was I protecting small profits but protecting losses even more?

Fixing this wasn't instant.
It took multiple painful reminders.

Now my stop is defined before entry.
No widening. No emotional edits.

3. Position Size Ego

I used to add "just one more lot."

But that one lot changed everything:

  • Faster heart rate
  • Watching every tick
  • Early exits

Reducing size felt boring at first.

But smaller size made me calmer.
Calmer made me consistent.

4. Watching PnL Instead of Structure

Green --> excitement.
Red --> stress.

I was trading the PnL, not the chart.

Now I focus on structure first.
PnL is the result, not the guide.

The Difference Now

I won't say I'm perfect.

I still feel fear.
I still feel greed.

But now:

  • I recognize it faster.
  • I stick to rules more often.
  • I don't justify mistakes.

And yes, results improved.

Not because of a new system.

Because of patience and repetition.

Which one of these mistakes do you still struggle with?

Be honest:- that's where improvement starts.
