Finding a job as an Environmental Consultant or Analyst with South Asian experience

Hey there

My wife has received a PhD offer from the Uni of Canterbury, although the scholarships are not yet confirmed. We are also thinking about choosing a self-funded pathway and are confused about the ground realities there. I would be going as a spouse with a spouse visa.

I have a 6+ year experience in Bangladesh as an Environmental Consultant / Expert, working on projects which are supported by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank. I would love to find some work and hopefully manage the funds if the scholarship falls through.

Can any of you provide some insight into this? Would chosing to do the PhD self-funded be a wise decision? Thanks in Advance.
