About those soul jars in the illusion cave...

In the island area outside Fort Joy. I just sort of stumbled across the whole thing and made my way through, until I came to the treasure room. Apparently all those soul jars of Braccus's various necromancers are part of a quest I haven't actually started yet. Am I missing out if I just smash them right away? I don't subscribe to the "infinite punishment for a finite offense" mindset.
