Hospice Community Liaison role — how should I network?
Hi everyone — I’d really appreciate some honest advice.
I recently applied for a Community Liaison / Coordinator role at a hospice organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. My background is in nonprofit coordination, hospital-based outreach, youth training, and community engagement. I’ve spent years building partnerships, coordinating programs, and working with diverse communities, but I’m newer to formally working in hospice settings (though I did volunteer in hospice years ago).
For those of you who work in hospice — what’s the best way to genuinely network into this space?
Would it make sense to start volunteering on weekends to better understand the field and build relationships? Or is there a more appropriate way to connect with hospice professionals without it feeling transactional?
I want to approach this respectfully and authentically. Any advice from people inside the field would mean a lot.
Thank you 🙏
