Hi! I have a political question

I’m not alt but I’ve always wanted to be, I think that I have cool interests and I’m also a very political person. On the topic of politics is where I’m kind of confused. I’ve heard many people say that if you’re right wing then you can’t be alt but what’s the history behind that? I’m a centrist libertarian but I lean a little right, does that mean that I can’t wear cool clothes and dye my hair? Does it mean I can’t listen to alternative music? I’m very confused on the subject and it would help if I could be educated! Thank you!
