Exploration and travel campaign.

5th Edition

Hey guys

I’m planning my next campaign and it’s going to be heavily exploration-based at least for the first levels, with a lot of long-distance travel by land, sea, and even air. The tone is adventurous and discovery-focused, but I’m worried about travel becoming repetitive or boring.

Here’s where I’m stuck:

•	If the party is traveling for 6 days, do I roll on a random encounter table for each day?

•	If they’re traveling for 20 days, do I roll 20 times?

•	Doesn’t that get repetitive after a while?

•	How do you handle long stretches of travel without slowing down the game?

I don’t want travel to feel like:

“Day 3. Nothing happens. Day 4. Nothing happens. Day 5. Bandits.”

I don’t want exploration and travel to feel boring.

Thank you in advance for any tips :)
